This was the last student show I was a part of at Rosebud School of the Arts in 2013. I was so honoured to be a part of this cast. It was an all women cast who had still maintains a strong connection today. It told the story of the women who were strong enough to make the trek out west and make a home in the wild prairies of Canada. Many of my ancestors took the same journey and I learned more about their stories through this experience and I connected with them personally. In one of my monologues that I had it talks about a train accident in which one of my characters lost her husband. My great grandmother was in a train accident and lost one of her relatives. Actually, there’s not much that my great grandmother hasn’t experienced and she’s turning 94 this summer. I got to know how she grew up through this production and that will always be very precious to me. This show was directed by the lovely Deanne Bertsch.

“It’s the strength and flexibility of these women had really astounds me”, said de Graaf.
