Workshops

This is the list of workshops I have attended:

-Monologue Workshop with Lucia Frangione, Pacific Theatre, Vancouver, Canada 2011

This was the first workshop I participated in with Rosebud School of the Arts and I did a monologue from The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. Lucia Frangione was delightful to work with and very insightful. I gained the ability to paint a picture for the audience and build on my child-like innocence.

-Body & Sound Technique Worshops with Erin Ormond in Vancouver, Canada 2011

In this workshop we explored breathe and the body and how they are both connected. I enjoyed it because this was another step in discovering how my body is my instrument, in terms of acting.

-Meisner Technique with Steven Ditmeyer, Neighbourhood Playhouse, New York, New York 2012

This workshop was great because it highlighted the importance of listening to my acting partner and reacting rather than just saying my lines. Where the scene depended completely on my partner. There was no time for planning or thinking ahead, which was a challenge for me. I enjoyed it.

-Improvisation with Peter Musante, New York, New York 2012

I enjoyed this workshop because we did an exercise that depended on being a team. I was excited about this because I had played on numerous sports teams in high school and I love being a part of the tram spirit. We had to create a piece together with our eyes closed. It was beautiful.

-Pupperty Workshop with Robin Guiver, London, England 2013

This workshop was incredible and was my first introductions with puppetry. I was amazed that a horse could be created from a balloon and a few piece of wood. It could breathe, it could experience emotion, and physically convince my eyes that it was a horse. I love creating something out of essentially nothing.

-Commedia dell’arte with Mike Griffin in Rosebud, AB 2011 and Robin Guiver in London, England, 2013

The art of Commedia dell’arte is fascinating to me because of the specificity of the characterization. And it’s hilarious! I loved moulding my body into an old man or a lover! There was so much freedom in a specific character because what I found within the characters was unique to anyone else’s characters. And I loved working with Robin again. He was friendly and really helpful.

– Rosebud Winter Intensive: workshops with Erin Ormond in 2013 and Gerry Trentham in 2014

I found the 2013 intensive difficult because it was hard to get back into the work right after a break. My art and my life always seem to coincide so when I was hoping to just get into the work, some hard issues in my body arose and they challenged me throughout the intensive. I learned that somehow I have to separate my real life and my acting life. And I got to practice this in the 2014 intensive! I loved working with Gerry Trentham. He has a way of bringing himself completely to the work without overwhelming me, as a student, with his experience. Also, I was able to marry my art and my life together without letting my life take over my art. This was an important discovery for me.
