A Sister

I met Lydia when I was in the third year of my education at Rosebud School of the Arts. I can remember it as clear as day. We were working in the Rosebud Mercantile and I remember being overwhelmed by her spirit. It was so peaceful and bright. And I thought to myself, "Hey, I know someone who could benefit from your spirit." Apparently it was mutual. She married my brother.

I've known her now for over six years and honestly, I can't remember not knowing her. She has been such a blessing to our family. She is someone who lives a convicted life and has the biggest heart for people. She's studying to be an OB-GYN and is almost through her fourth year of Medical School! However, today is her birthday. I want to celebrate her, of course, but I also want to tell you just a bit more about her and what she does.

On top of studying medicine, she has been overseas to Niger, Africa to apply her knowledge in the SIM Galmi Hospital and to spread the Lord's love. This is something that Lydia cannot hide: her love for people. And this is why I'm so convinced that the Lord has made her to be a Doctor. And what a perfect person to have the job of making sure babies are born safely into the world. Lydia and Josh (my brother) have started a company called Basic Needs that ventures to build community, invest in people and outreaches what they believe in. I cannot wait to see where there the Good Lord leads them.

Happy Birthday to you, Lydia. I've always wanted a sister but I never dreamed she would be as lovely as you. Here's to many more moments where we laugh til we cry, build puzzles, and build each other up.

Love & Prayers,

Lauren xo
