A Little Perspective
You guys! Thank you for continuing to be apart of my journey. I started blogging two months ago today and I realized I have a lot of stories to share. But the thing about stories is that sharing them with yourself isn't that great. There aren't usually a lot of laughs. So I'm going to say it again: thank you.
I should like us to get to know each other a bit more. I can start. I told you three things about myself last month. What should I do this month? Maybe a funny and slightly embarrassing story? Okay, I'll do it.
I recently had the pleasure of going to California for a holiday and on the way back, I had to go through Customs. I like to shop, blah, blah, blah. There was a cute Custom's Officer and I was secretly hoping that I would get to talk to him. My turn came and who did I get? The cute guy. We exchanged hellos and he asked a series of questions.
"Where did you come back from?"
"Palm Springs."
"Did you meet anyone?"
I giggled and said, "No."
Pause.
"Who did you go with?"
"Oh, my friends, I went with my friends."
"What did you do down there?"
"Layed by the pool in the sun."
"That sounds pretty great. Have a good day!"
He wasn't asking if I met anyone romantically. He was asking if I met anyone down there to exchange illegal goods. However, I was so focused on how he cute he was that I misunderstood and made a bit of a fool of myself. Everyone who knows me knows that I'm so transparent and I can't hide anything. Hopefully he had a chuckle about it later. I told my friends once we all came through and I found out that I wasn't the only one who wanted to talk to him.
Moral of the story? It's not about me. I can get too in my head and think that I've got things figured out. I don't. I'm flying by the seat of my pants most of the time and it's good thing I've learned to laugh at myself. Otherwise, I would be worried about what people thought of me and what fun would that be? If they don't like me by now, I really can't do much for them.
Love & Prayers,
Lauren xo
