Feast of Saint Valentine
I have thought a lot about what to say about Valentines Day. The phrases that run through my head are "You aren't somebody until you've loved somebody" or "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?" Both are these are beautiful and speak of love, yes. But only one face of love.
I grew up in a loving home with a loving Father, Mother, Brother and now a Sister-in-law. These people believe in me, encourage me, and take care of me. But they also challenge, guide, and are honest with me. I've now made friendships that do exactly the same thing. However, the way Hollywood and Disney movies portray love, though I LOVE them, isn't entirely accurate. It's taken me a long time to learn that. In a world of pursuing the perfect Instagram feed I long for a relationship that illustrates a real love where we challenge, celebrate, and laugh with each other.
I had a conversation with Lydia, my Sister-in-law, where we talked about how we've both had moments of not believing that we are worthy of a good relationship. But something that we know trumps that: the magic of The Lord. So today what I want for all of you is for you to believe in that kind of magic. To believe that you're worthy of the best kind of love. I hope that it reveals itself to you. Because today is not just about romantic love, it's about every kind of love. Whatever form it shows up in, may it be good, may it be mutual, and may you believe that you are worthy. Because I'm here to tell you that you are.
Happy Valentines Day!
Love & Prayers,
