Generosity

Generosity is word is defined as the quality of being kind or generous or the quality or fact of being plentiful or large. When I was growing up I always associated money with generosity because it was a way I could physicalize it and then understand it better. But that was only one way a person can be generous.

As I've grown older I’ve noticed that there are much more potent ways to be generous. There are three more ways a person can show generosity: time, love/encouragement, and of spirit. I like to think of the last way as the most powerful. It takes all of what a person is made of to be generous of spirit. It combines time, love/encouragement, money, whatever else you'd like to list, to do it.

I believe the Lord made us each with a different spirit. Some really gel and some don't play well with others, that's a fact. However, when we fully live in the Lord and listen to His voice, I believe that one can be full of generosity (of spirit) because it's actually not us who shines through, it's God. I'm trying to rediscover how music will fit back into my life and I've had a few people reach out to me (actually quite a few, of which I am so grateful) and they have offered words of encouragement that surpass the value of money or anything earthly. They've spoken to my spirit because they understand that it's a currency that's very important to me. They see me, they take me in, and they give me the best thing they can give: generosity of their spirit, the entirety of who they are and who God has made them to be. It's a part of who God is.

So today as you go throughout your routine, I'm asking you to go out of your way to be generous of spirit to someone who you suspect needs it. It may seem like a big risk, but if it's Spirit lead, I guarantee you it will be good because God's timing is good and He wants to bless you. And you can take that to the bank.

Love & Prayers,
