Grandpa's Birthday
My Grandpa (on my Mom's side) turns 79 today. He's man of great integrity, patience, and spunk. He has the best one liners and wears suspenders like a boss. He's a retired Farmer (although do Farmers ever retire?) and he loves my Grandma. Can I tell you about him?
He was born in 1939 and didn't start speaking til he was three. But he was so clever, he skipped a grade and went to SAIT for Engineering when he was 16. He then became a successful farmer, married the woman of his dreams, and they made a life together. But what comes to mind when I think about my Grandpa is kindness. He and my Grandma have made a legacy of generosity and kindness.
He's the guy who pulls over to a car who's stranded on the highway and does everything he can to help them. He's the guy that jumps in the car ready to go for a road trip late into the evening. And he's the man who is a living example of who the Lord made him to be. He listens to me process things out loud over and over again, offering the advice he sees fit and it's often exactly what I needed. And sometimes it's not always what I want to hear but it's always the right thing.
Grandpa, thank you for being my best friend. Thank you for your wisdom and gentle spirit. Thank you for believing in me when my faith in myself fades. Thank you for seeing me for who the Lord has made me to be rather than blemished. Thank you for reflecting the Lord's love in how you love me. I wish you the happiest and peaceful birthday. You deserve the world and the moon for that matter. I love you so much. Here's to you!
Love & Prayers,
Lauren xo
