List of Things I Did In 2018
As I've mentioned many times, it's been a year. A year full of changes, adventures, wake up calls, and absolute joy. For those of you who have been following along, I'm so grateful. I'm thankful for your love, your comfort, and your prayers. They mean the world to me as do you.
Here are the highlights and new starts that made up 2018 for me:
1. Began Blogging:
I would see all of these amazing bloggers online and always thought, "I want to do that!" And about 11 months ago, I started and I've been having an absolutely blast! There's something about putting your thoughts down on paper that's so liberating! The community that I've made (of bloggers) has also been so enriching. I'm grateful that what's happened along the way and so looking forward to what 2019 holds!
2. Turned 26:
I mean, I knew this was going to happen. It was inevitable! But turning 25 didn't start out with a bang but 26 sure did! It's been a year of change and digging into to more of what I love! But more importantly, I've really grown into who I am (by the Grace of God) and it's been a real game changer. I'm a woman with a big presence and a big heart but is realizing that her flaws will not be the death of her. But I should keep them in check.
3. Started My Schooling:
This was a big step! I've been putting it off and waiting for the right time! Then I discovered that I will never be "ready" or it won't ever be the "right time". I just have to take the leap! So I did! My world has gotten bigger and all the friends that I have in Calgary have been put into my life for such a time as this. So the Lord's timing is perfect, even though it doesn't exactly it our ow timeline.
4. Music Mondays:
I feel like I've had to get to know myself as a musician again (after being part of a trio) and it's been a blessing. The grief that I experienced wasn't a blessing but it is true that God can take hardship and turn it into a good thing. I've had a few gigs since and each time the Lord says to me, "I made you for this. Just be yourself." And I ask, "You mean performing?" "I mean connecting with people, whether it's on or off the stage."
So Music Mondays was me being brave, sharing my sound, and the stories that I want to share. And I'm grateful to you guys for following along and supporting the experiment. It's here to stay!
5. Conversations with God:
I've never had more conversations with God out loud than I've had this year. He's revealed Himself so clearly to me. I never hear His voice audibly, but it's The Spirit who speaks to me and answers my questions. I know it's Him because they appear like thoughts in my mind, only much faster than my own thoughts. That's how I know they're from Him.
He's helped me through every transition and taken me in the right direction. And it is good. So if you've ever been curious and wanted to talk to Him, do it! He's right there and He's longing to connect with you. That was the whole point of the cross: to remove the separation fo sin so that we could talk to Him.
6. Travelled:
I got to travel a little this year! It started out with a bang! Four good friends and I went to Palm Springs (California) in January! Then I went up to Prince George (BC) to see my Sister-in-Law, Lydia, graduate with her Medical Degree! Then my good friend, Emmy, and I travelled to Radium (BC) for a weekend away before we started school in the fall!
I was also able to fit in a road trip to help my brother and his wife, Josh and Lydia, move to Regina for her residency! A warm getaway in the winter and lots of travelling in Canada. I'm grateful for each adventure because it was the time with my people that was so important!
What things have filled your year? And what do you hope to accomplish in 2019?
Love & Prayers,
Lauren xo
